Rubik’s Cube at the beach
This giant Rubik’s Cube can be found on Maroubra Beach, NSW Australia. The cube is actually a storm water drain cover that has been painted to look like the iconic rubrik’s cube.
I think it is wonderful how artists are able to turn what was a concrete cube, into an object of interest. The cube is actually a cover for a stormwater drain, so in fact this piece of public art can be thought of as a public service. Providing visual interest to what would otherwise be a very boring and mundane piece of concrete. Public art can be intriguing and inspiring, or just whimsical. What ever way you look at public art, it makes for an interesting photo and a bit of visual stimulation.
